Ventisquero has two vineyards there, one planted right next to the river and the other, on the third terrace, on white soils rich in salts. Water is scarce and comes in the form of "camanchacas," the damp Pacific breezes that bathe the area. Aged half in foudres and half in concrete eggs, this is an almost furious expression of the variety–the red and black fruits, the spices, the herbs, the meaty notes that appear like a waterfall on the palate, the fruity aromas flooding the nose. And those firm tannins like concrete pillars supporting an enormous building. A syrah that's not syrah, one that goes far beyond variety to enter the territory of a unique place in South America.
